Our store already had a pretty good accurate inventory count and I have talked to several stores on how they did it before we came up with what worked best for us. Then Mango Report came along. We have now been using it for over 20 months. It is by far the best method that we have used to control our inventory as we are now counting items that need to be counted.

Using Mango has helped us reduce the amount of time spent counting but it has made our counts much more meaningful. Mango identifies items that need to be counted and in addition it has helped us clean up mistakes in location codes and cost errors. There is a huge difference between thinking your inventory, pricing, and assortment are accurate and correct and KNOWING exactly what your inventory accuracy is, that all of your products are selling for the right price, that you aren't missing or have lost any good items, etc. Mango is by far the best tool we have added to our stores arsenal in the last 5 years for making more money. We have reduced our labor for maintaining inventory accuracy, found items we were purchasing from the wrong vendor, deleted items that were on permanent phantom promotions, and transferred items between stores. The Mango reports have removed the gut feeling about how our inventory is doing and given us solid data to identify everything that has gone wrong with our inventory and the tools to quickly identify and fix the issues.
We are very pleased with the Mango process. The information derived from the Mango reports has helped us with possible cashier theft by tracking questionable returns. We have used the overstock feature to help balance our inventories between our four stores.
I have been a stickler for maintaining our inventory through section checks, going through the entire store in a year but Mango has picked dead or lost sales items that my process had overlooked. I believe that finding items that we have lost sales on has paid for the program plus some.
We have only been using Mango for 4 months now. I thought we had our inventory processes dialed in via cycle counting, shooting outs, and department audits. On top of those processes we have inventory analysts at each store in charge of purchase orders from Ace and outside vendors, inventory transfers between stores, price changes etc…
What I found out quickly using Mango is I am spending too much time counting. My IRA (Inventory Record Accuracy) has improved since I started using Mango, and I have eliminated cycle counting. What I found was we are making too many mistakes while cycle counting. The money I have saved on cycle counting has already paid for Mango. The inventory accuracy is just the tip of the iceberg with Mango, it also shows you items you should stock and items you should eliminate. Look if you are on the fence jump off and start using Mango, it really is a no brainer!
Mango is an amazing asset to our store. Mango has made my life so much easier and enabled Garden City Ace Hardware to have an accurate inventory with many less man hours invested. Previously, we were cycle counting. Only items with a large discrepancy were double checked. Now, with Mango we are only counting approximately 150 items a month. Each inaccuracy is thoroughly researched so we are not introducing errors into our inventory. When we receive our Mango count sheets every month I honestly say “I LOVE Mango!

Mango Report has been the most revolutionary inventory count maintenance tool we have ever seen. Couple that with an unbelievable low cost, and ease of use, you would be making a huge mistake to not take advantage of this gift Dan has created. Product pays for itself in the first couple pages of the first report. A real eye opener no matter how much retail experience you have.
We LOVE MANGO! When we first heard that this could potentially replace our cycle inventory counts, I was skeptical. But then I started investigating how many errors we made while cycle-counting (we tracked “corrections” under a different PIP code), AND the time that it took, and we decided to give it a try. We’ve been using MANGO for about 6 mo’s now and I’m a believer. It somehow “catches” the items that need to be checked, and doesn’t waste time counting every single item. The reports of items to research are extremely helpful and have helped recoup sales on items that were supposed to be on the shelf, but were not.
